Company Description

When US troops or US tour groups are deployed, Global Aviation Holdings (formerly Global Aero Logistics) helps them reach their destinations. The company, which operates through subsidiaries World Airways (founded 1948) and North American Airlines (founded 1989), provides military (passenger and cargo) and commercial cargo air transport; it also offers charter passenger services. The company leases cargo aircraft under ACMI (an acronym for aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) contracts. Global Aviation maintains a leased fleet of around 30 jets and serves more than 110 countries. In early 2012, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
