Company Description

Gillig's business is building buses with giddy up. The company makes heavy-duty buses for mass transit systems. Gillig offers two main models, the BRT and the Low Floor, in multiple lengths and widths. It also builds the Trolley, a replica of an old fashioned cable car. The company produces mostly diesel-powered buses and, to a lesser extent, a variety of alternative-fuel models, including one that uses a hybrid diesel-electric engine made by General Motors. The bus maker has the capacity to turn out as many as 1,300 vehicles annually. Founded in 1890, Gillig was acquired by CC Industries from California-based Herrick Pacific in late 2008.
