Company Description

Genzyme Genetics doesn't get test anxiety. Formerly a business unit of Genzyme, it provides diagnostic testing, specifically reproductive and oncology tests. Genzyme Genetics is a market leader in testing for breast cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma, as well as hard-to-diagnose cancers. The division's labs also specialize in prenatal testing for cystic fibrosis carriers and other inheritable diseases. In addition, Genzyme Genetics provides prenatal genetic counseling services; it has some 150 genetic counselors and specialists on staff who assess a patient's risks and interpret results for patients and doctors. The unit operates nine laboratories in the US. LabCorp bought the company in 2010.
