Genmar Holdings trolled for sales by cruising the pleasure boat market with a line of luxury yachts, recreational powerboats, and fishing boats. The company built an array of boat models, ranging from fishing skiffs to 60-foot yachts. Brands included Larson, Seaswirl, and FinCraft. Genmar marketed its boats through independent dealers in the US, and 40 countries worldwide. The company, which was a culmination of multiple boat brands acquired over 25 years, was controlled by chairman Irwin Jacobs, an investor and former corporate raider. Sinking sales forced the boat-building company to file Chapter 11 in June 2009.
