Company Description
GCL-Poly Energy didn't go into business single-mindedly. The group is China's largest producer of polysilicon, the raw material used to make photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity. Through is subsidiaries, GCL-Poly Energy annually produces more than 45 million pounds of polysilicon and 3,500 megawatts of polysilicon wafers. In addition, the group owns or has stakes in about 20 power plants, a wind power plant and a 20 MW solar farm in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province -- currently the largest solar farm in China. The group earns the majority of its revenue from solar operations; power plants account for about a third of sales. Chairman and CEO Gong Shan Zhu is the company's controlling stockholder.
