Friona Industries puts beef on America's tables. One of the world's biggest feedlot operations, Amarillo, Texas-based Friona owns four feedyards in the northwestern part of the Lone Star State that have a feeding capacity of more than 275,000 head of cattle. The beef it produces on its lots is sold in some 2,300 food retail outlets throughout the US. In addition to feeding hungry beef cattle, Friona offers cattle ranchers risk-management assistance and partnering options. Its Agricultural Credit division helps them with financing for their cattle, feed, and hedging costs. Friona Industries was founded in 1962 by president and CEO James E. Herring.
