A real estate investment trust (REIT), Franklin Street Properties acquires, finances, leases, and manages office properties in about 15 states throughout the US. It owns some 30 properties located mainly in suburban areas and manages about a dozen others; Dallas, Denver, Houston, and Washington, DC are its largest markets. The company's FSP Investment unit is an investment bank and brokerage that organizes REITs that invest in single properties and raises equity for them through private placements. Another subsidiary, FSP Management, manages properties for Franklin Street, as well as for some of the REITs sponsored by FSP Investment.
