Company Description

While some hear doom & gloom in the financial news, Foursquare hears opportunity knocking. It plans to take advantage of US government efforts to sell commercial and subprime residential mortgage-backed securities that are stuck on banks' books bogging down the credit markets. Through its manager, investment firm AllianceBernstein, Foursquare will purchase what have been called toxic assets, along with other securities, using the US Treasury's Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF). Foursquare intends to qualify as a mortgage real estate investment trust, or REIT, which gives it tax advantages. The company was formed in 2009 to take advantage of TALF; it filed to go public shortly thereafter.
