Foster's operates through Carlton United Breweries, whose name brand portfolio holds Foster's as well as Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught, and Crown Lager. It has deals to sell rival brews Asahi and Corona in Australia. Foster's is also the country's #1 maker of cider. Offerings include spirits, Cascade soda, and Torquay bottled water. The lineup is sold in more than 45 countries. Foster's spun off its wine business, Treasury Wine Estates in 2011. The move made Foster's an acquisition target; following a hostile takeover battle, in 2011 the 150-year old beer maker was bought by SABMiller in a roughly $12.3 billion bid.
