The family-owned company operates more than 100 formal wear stores located Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas, and to a lesser extent in Arkansas and Mississippi. Its stores operate under the names Al's Formal Wear, Ascot Tuxedos, Bridesmart, Louise Blum, and Ascot Formal Wear and specialize in renting and selling tuxedos, as well as women's formal apparel. Its wholesale division supplies stores nationwide with tuxedos. The late Alan Gaylor (the "Al" of Al's Formal Wear) and his wife, Lillian, opened up their first tux shop in downtown Houston during the 1950s.
