Company Description
For the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the road less traveled simply means less work and fewer repairs are necessary. FDOT is responsible for coordinating the planning of a safe, viable, and balanced transportation system serving all regions of the state. Formed in 1969, the Department works through seven districts and a turnpike enterprise to insure that all modes of transportation (including more than 42,000 miles roadways, aviation facilities, seaports, and railways) are safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally sound. FDOT has an annual budget of about $8 billion for use in such projects as planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the state's transportation system.
