Florida's CFO wears many hats as head of Florida's Department of Financial Services (FLDFS), including that of State Fire Marshall. In addition to tracking the state's revenues and expenditures, the Department of Financial Services is also responsible for managing the state's unclaimed property program; providing consumer information related to banking, insurance, and securities; and investigating financial fraud. The department also regulates Florida's funeral industry, enforces the state's workers' compensation laws, and spearheads state fire prevention, investigation, reporting, and firefighter training programs. FLDFS also produces the state's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
