Company Description
First Quantum Minerals knows the dynamics of mining in Africa's Copper Belt. The company owns all or part of several active copper mining operations in Africa. Most of First Quantum's revenues come from its 80% owned Kansanshi site in Zambia, the Bwana Mkubwa SX/EW facility and sulphuric acid plants in Zambia, the Frontier copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Guelb Moghrein copper-gold mine in Mauritania. First Quantum also operates a copper extraction/electrowinning facility that processes mine tailings to produce copper cathode and sulfuric acid. The company produces around 375,000 tons of copper and 195,000 ounces of gold annually. First Quantum also has projects in Finland and Australia.
