Company Description
First Physicians Capital Group (formerly Tri-Isthmus Group or TIGroup) is an investment and financing firm with an eye toward the health care industry. The group invests in and manages health care facilities, primarily rural critical access hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. It owns or holds stakes in about a half-dozen medical facilities in Southern California and Oklahoma. In 2009 First Physicians Capital signed a letter of intent to acquire the assets of a hospital in southeastern Texas and to develop a new community hospital in the region. Oklahoma-based investor Carol Schuster owns more than 40% of the company's common stock. Director David Hirschhorn holds about 20%.
