The company was known as OM Financial Life Insurance until 2011 when its parent company London-based Old Mutual sold Fidelity and Guaranty Life to investment firm Harbinger Group. The sale was part of Old Mutual's attempts to restructure its operations and offset the impact of the past few years of economic difficulty.
