Company Description

Exxaro Resources is aiming to be a top dog in coal production in South Africa. The mining company, which resulted from Kumba Resources' merger with Eyesizwe Coal in late 2006, has positioned itself for both domestic and international growth in coal, as well as in mineral sands. It has exited its zinc operations. In addition to a number of South African coal mines that produce steam and coking coal for the metals and utilities markets, Exxaro has mineral sands and base metals production operations and interests in Australia and China. It also produces iron ore through a minority interest in Sishen Iron Ore Company. BEE Holdco (controlled by Eyesizwe) has a 53% stake in Exxaro.
