Essex Property Trust acquires, develops, and manages apartment communities, focusing on the metropolitan areas of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. The self-managed and self-administered real estate investment trust (REIT) owns more than 130 residential communities with approximately 27,500 apartment units; about half are located in Southern California. Other portfolio assets include a handful of recreational vehicle parks, office buildings, and a manufactured home community.
