Company Description
A big plus for Enerplus is its diverse portfolio. Enerplus Corp. (formerly Enerplus Resources Fund) exploits crude oil and natural gas assets. The company explores and produces in shallow gas development, waterflood, and joint venture activities in Western Canada and the US Rockies. Enerplus is also developing coalbed methane, oil sands, and shale properties. In 2010 its proved plus probable reserves totaled 306.2 million barrels of oil equivalent. In early 2011 the company converted to a corporation for better shareholder returns (federal tax on income trusts became law in 2011).
