Company Description
If emmentaler makes you whoop and holler, give thanks to Emmi. It's Switzerland's top dairy processor, and it gives us reason to care about gruyere and stock our cellars with appenzeller. It makes butter, cheeses, milk drinks, dairy desserts, and yogurts under the Emmi, Kaltbach, SwissAlp, Winzer, Luzerner, and Le Gruyère brands. The company makes chilled coffee and milk drink Caffè Latte, as well as the yogurt drink Aktifit. Emmi's products are sold globally, but primarily in Europe and North America. In 2010, Emmi bought the Onken yoghurt brand, local cheese maker Fromalp, and Cypress Grove Chèvre. In 2011 it acquired Italian dessert maker A-27. Swiss investment firm, ZMP Invest, owns 55% of Emmi.
