Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery processes and markets the cream of its members' crops, which in this instance are dairy cows. The creamery manufactures and distributes butter, cheese, whey powder, cheese curds, and other dairy foods. Founded in 1908 (as the Milton Dairy Company and taking its current name in 1910), the cooperative processes 1.5 million pounds of milk daily. The co-op has more than 500 farmer/members, whose dairy operations are located in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It is known for its cheddar cheese curds; the company was officially nicked-named the "Cheese Curd Capital of the World" by (former) Wisconsin's governor, Anthony Earl.
