Company Description
Mortgage-related assets are music to Ellington Financial's ears. The specialty finance company manages a portfolio of primarily non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities, valued at more than $366 million. It also seeks to acquire other target assets, such as residential whole mortgage loans, commercial mortgage-backed securities, commercial real estate debt, and asset-backed securities. Riskier residential whole mortgage loans, which are generally not guaranteed by the US government, include subprime, non-performing, and sub-performing mortgage loans. Founded in 2007, Ellington Financial went public in 2010 in hopes of taking advantage of the current credit environment.
