Founded in 1928 in its namesake city, El Paso Corporation is primarily engaged in gas transportation and storage (including liquefied natural gas, LNG), oil and gas exploration and production, and gas gathering and processing. The operator of the largest gas transportation system in the US, El Paso has interests in 44,000 miles of interstate pipeline. In 2011 subsidiary El Paso Exploration and Production had estimated proved reserves of about 3.9 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas equivalent in Brazil, Egypt, and the US.
