Company Description

Edison Mission Energy (EME) mission once was to conquer the nonregulated energy sector around the world, but now it will settle for focusing on a big slice of the US market. The company, a indirect subsidiary of Edison International, has interests in about 40 power plants in the US and one in Turkey (Doga project) that give it a net physical generating capacity of almost 11,000 MW. EME sells power through contracts with large utilities, regional distributors, and other energy companies; it also trades energy on the open markets. In 2010 72% of the company's generating capacity was produced by coal plants, 14% by natural gas, and 14% by wind energy.
