Edge Petroleum goes high-tech to gain an edge over its rivals in the oil and gas exploration and production business. The company relies on visualization software and a 3-D seismic database to find natural gas and oil prospects onshore along the Gulf of Mexico region. Edge Petroleum has proved reserves of 163.5 billion cu. ft. of natural gas equivalent, of which 89% is natural gas and natural gas liquids. Although its primary operations are in Texas, where most of its developed acreage is located, the company also has major developed holdings in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Mexico.
