Economic Development Administration Rankings

Company Description

The Economic Development Administration is like the Red Cross for jobs. The EDA works in partnership with local and regional groups in areas of the country that have high unemployment, low income, or other severe economic distress due to natural disasters, closing of federal facilities, changing business patterns, or depleted natural resources. It offers direct grants that create and retain private sector jobs and leverage public and private investment by providing planning and technical assistance, public works and development facilities, and economic adjustment assistance. The administration, part of the Department of Commerce, was established in 1965 by the Public Works and Economic Development Act.
