Company Description

Eastern Light Capital (ELC) is a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on loans rather than properties. The company formerly originated and purchased (through mortgage banks and brokers) non-conforming first and second home mortgages and home equity loans collateralized mainly by properties in California. ELC suspended those operations in 2006, but continues to hold such investments in it portfolio, which consists primarily of loans that do not meet the purchasing standards set by Fannie MaeFreddie Mac, and other government-sponsored housing enterprises. ELC is exploring investments in other REIT-compliant assets. Subsidiary WrenCap Funding invests in exchange-listed securities.
