It sells its workers' compensation products in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania through subsidiaries Eastern Alliance and Allied Eastern. Eastern Insurance Holdings' Atlantic Re unit, based in the Cayman Islands, provides workers compensation products through "rent-a-captive" arrangements to self-insured groups; it also provides specialty reinsurance for underground storage and non-hazardous waste transportation insurance programs. The company sold that unit in late 2010 for about $2.3 million.
