Company Description

Like a peacock strutting its stuff, ESCADA knows how to use color. Women the world over know ESCADA for its bright fabrics, elaborate stitching, hand-beaded work, and tailored looks. The firm designs and sells women's apparel and accessories under the ESCADA and ESCADA SPORT brands. It also licenses its name for eyewear and fragrances. The brands are sold in more than 180 company-owned stores in 20 countries, and in upscale department stores, including Neiman Marcus and Saks. Founded in Munich in 1976 by Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley, ESCADA is owned by its chairman Megha Mittal who acquired the ailing company out of bankruptcy in 2009. The firm changed its name from the German form to ESCADA SE in 2010.
