Formerly Explosive Fabricators, the company uses explosives to metallurgically bond, or "clad," metal plates; the process usually joins a corrosion-resistant alloy with carbon steel -- metals that do not bond easily. Its clad metal plates are central to making heavy-duty pressure vessels and heat exchangers used in such industries as alternative energy and shipbuilding. Its oilfield products segment (operating as DYNAenergetics) makes explosive devices used to knock open oil and gas wells. Its AMK Welding unit machines and welds parts for commercial and military aircraft engines and power-generation turbines.
