Diversified Private Equity Corporation (DPEC) is a venture capital company that is focused on the biotechnology industry. The company's subsidiaries (InvestPrivate and InvestBio) offer brokerage transactions, investment advice, biotechnology publications, and a mutual fund. After withdrawing its plans for an IPO under investigation from the NASD for a number of fraudulent "self-offerings" held between 2000 and 2003, the company announced in late 2008 a letter of intent for a reverse merger with Mercari Communications Group, a transaction expected to provide DPEC with a public company platform.
