Diversified Machine knows you can't move your wheels without a powertrain. The company (formerly Uni Boring) machines and assembles powertrain components including intake manifolds, cylinder heads, and exhaust manifolds for Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. Diversified Machine operates about a half dozen manufacturing plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. An investor group led by auto industry veteran Bruce Swift bought former Uni Boring out of bankruptcy in 2005, merged it with casting plants scored from Hayes-Lemmerz, and renamed the company Diversified Machine. Besides Swift, who serves as the company's chairman and CEO, shareholders include investment firms Carlyle Group and Relativity Fund/JME. To read the full description, subscribe now.
