Delta digs blue grass and natural gas. Delta Natural Gas provides gas to some 36,000 retail customers in central and southeastern Kentucky and has 2,500 miles of gathering, transmission, and distribution lines. It also provides transportation services to wholesale customers and operates an underground gas storage field. The regulated utility buys almost all of its gas supply from interstate gas marketers. Delta Natural Gas's production subsidiary, Enpro, has interests in 35 producing gas wells and it has proved developed reserves of 3 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. Other subsidiaries include Delta Resources and Delgasco, which purchase gas from marketers and resell it to utilities and large customers.
