More than a half-century ago, Daiwa House Industry called its first prefabricated homes "Pipe Houses" because they were made from steel pipes. Today, the group includes more than 50 major subsidiaries involved in building, renovating, selling, managing, and operating a wide swath of property types. Its largest business is still prefab residential development and construction, but Daiwa also provides services for commercial, industrial, health care, retail, and hospitality properties. Other offerings include agency services, office relocation and staffing services, and vehicle and equipment leasing. Daiwa House Industry has more than 100 branches and factories throughout Japan and in China and Vietnam.
