Company Description
Daewoo Electronics is one of South Korea's largest consumer electronics manufacturers and exporters. The company makes home and kitchen appliances (microwave ovens, refrigerators, washing machines) and sells them in more than 100 countries. The company has been restructuring to return to profitability and attract buyer. In 2009 it sold four of its noncore businesses: TV, air conditioning, vacuum cleaners, and electronic motors. The firm retained its refrigerator, washing machine, and kitchen appliance units and is looking for a buyer for them. Once a flagship of the failed Daewoo Group, Daewoo Electronics' major shareholders include investment firm Korea Asset Management and Korea's Woori Bank.
