Its Sales & Distribution unit distributes power and gas to residential, business, and public-sector customers. Its Generation segment produces more than 50% of Denmark's power and about 40% of its heat through thermal and offshore wind power plants. Its Exploration & Production segment, responsible for producing oil and gas, rounds out the company's operations. DONG Energy was founded in 1972 as Dansk Naturgas A/S.
