Doing business as Oxylane Group, the company, designs, manufactures, and retails athletic apparel and equipment for some 70 sports, including cycling, hiking, hunting, basketball, swimming, running, soccer, and tennis. Its lineup is sold under private label brands, such as Quechua (mountain sport) and Tribord (water sport). The company operates a global chain of roughly 490 retail stores in more than 15 countries. France, followed by Spain, is its largest market. Stores also offer tennis racket stringing to ice skate sharpening and bicycle tune-ups. DECATHLON was founded in 1976 by Michel Leclercq and is owned by the Mulliez family, one of the wealthiest in France.
