Simon says, "Cymer makes lasers." The company is the top manufacturer of excimer lasers, light sources used by chip makers to pattern advanced semiconductors. Its products enable semiconductor manufacturers to produce smaller, faster microchips. Cymer also supplies deep-ultraviolet light sources to lithography tool manufacturers ASML, Canon, and Nikon, who integrate the light source into their wafer steppers and scanners, which they supply to chip makers. Cymer has installed more than 3,300 light sources around the world in wafer fabrication facilities (fabs) run by IBM Microelectronics, Intel, Samsung Electronics, and Texas Instruments, among others. The company gets almost two-thirds of its sales in Asia.
