Crosstex Energy Inc. owns and controls the general partner of and has a 25% limited partnership stake in natural gas company Crosstex Energy L.P. Crosstex Energy's energy sources (the Barnett and Haynesville shale plays) and markets are found in East Texas, North Texas, and the Louisiana Gulf Coast. It is engaged in natural gas gathering, processing, transmission, and marketing. The company buys natural gas from independent producers. Crosstex Energy's assets include 3,300 miles of natural gas gathering and transmission pipeline, nine processing plants, and three fractionators. Crosstex Energy provides natural gas services for 3.2 billion cu. ft. per day, or about 6% of US natural gas daily production.
