Country Garden builds residential properties in China that aren't necessarily in the country and don't have gardens. The group primarily develops large-scale apartment communities and townhouses in the suburbs of China. It manages 20 completed properties and has 45 more under construction, totaling 48,000 units and 94 million square feet. Country Garden also owns eight hotels, with four more under construction. The company was founded in 1997 in Guangdong Province by Chairman and CEO Yang Guoqiang, who also is known as Yeung Kwok Keung. His daughter, Yang Huiyan, a director with the company, owns 59% of Country Garden and is China's richest woman. Country Garden listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007.
