Company Description
Cooperativa de Produtores de cana-de-açúar, açúar, e Álcool do Estado de São Paulo, the name says it all -- if you speak Portuguese. Known simply as Copersucar, the organization of Brazilian cane, sugar, and alcohol (ethanol) producers manages the production, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of its member companies' products and promotes stability within the sugar market. Founded in 1959 with a dozen members, the cooperative now consists of more than 80 associate companies of which more than 30 are sugar and alcohol production companies located in the Brazilian states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Paraná.
