Conergy espouses the pros of solar energy. The company manufactures solar components, such as photovoltaic (PV) modules, mounting systems, and off-grid and grid-connected inverters. Its products have generated almost 1 gigawatt of renewable energy. Conergy once owned enough subsidiaries to create its own solar system, but it nearly collapsed in 2007 and is now one of the smaller players in Germany's well-developed solar industry. The company stripped its operations to fewer than 15 countries and streamlined its manufacturing capabilities to three plants in Germany. Its home country accounts for almost half of sales.
