Comverge seeks a convergence of communications enabling the lights to stay on. The company provides demand management software and systems to electric utilities and other energy suppliers and sells automated meters and related equipment with communications links. The company's products are used by more than 500 utilities and energy providers, including PEPCO, as well as some 2,100 commercial and industrial customers, such as Barnes and Noble and Foot Locker. Its products include software and hardware that help control energy load, read meters remotely, manage billing, and detect theft and outages. In 2012 Comverge agreed to be acquired by H.I.G. Capital in a deal valued at around $49 million.
