Company Description

As long as no one in the front row has a large hat or big hair, you should have a clear view of these movie screens. Clearview Cinemas, a subsidiary of cable TV giant Cablevision Systems, is a leading movie theater operator in the New York metropolitan area, with locations in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The company has more than 250 screens in about 50 theaters, including the historic Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. It also owns a small collection of art house theaters including the Bala Theatre, the Bronxville Cinemas, and the Larchmont Playhouse. Clearview was co-founded by A. Dale Mayo (chairman of Cinedigm Digital Cinema) in 1994. Cablevision purchased the company in 1998 for $160 million.
