Publisher of The Worst Case Scenario series, Chronicle Books lives on the edge by taking chances on books. The company publishes some 300 books and stationery products each year in the areas such as art and design, pop culture, food and drink, travel, and children's titles. Books include New York Times best-seller Griffin & Sabine and The Beatles Anthology. The company also has three retail stores in the San Francisco Bay area (including its corporate headquarters) that sell books and gift items. Chronicle Books was founded in 1967 to provide the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper with a book publishing division. Longtime editor-in-chief Nion McEvoy acquired the company in 2000 and became its chairman and CEO.
