The company holds about 450 sales and auctions each year and offers an educational art program, a mail-order book service, a fine arts image library; it also provides real estate services. Christie's owns more than 50 offices and 10 salesrooms spanning more than 30 countries. Artemis, the holding company of French art collector Francois Pinault, owns Christie's. The venerable auction house was established by James Christie in 1766.
