For a time, Choice Homes was the builder of choice for primarily first-time buyers in Texas. The builder of affordable single-family homes was one of the largest homebuilders in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and one of the top 100 in the country. It built in more than 130 communities in the Lone Star State (concentrated in Amarillo, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and Lubbock) and in Georgia (Atlanta, Athens, and Macon). Homes typically ranged in price from about $110,000 up to $250,000. Move-up homes priced between $180,000 and $350,000 were sold under the Parkmont Homes brand. Founded in 1987, the company built more than 39,000 homes before shutting down in 2009.
