Company Description
No relation to Big Tex, the State Fair of Texas icon, Chinatex is as big and as old in the textile market of China. Founded in 1951, the State-owned company is the #1 cotton trader and acrylic importer in China, as well as one of the largest clothing exporters. It operates through more than 30 subsidiaries and affiliates, and 40 manufacturing plants. Formerly China National Textiles Import and Export Corporation, Chinatex trades textiles, from raw materials, yarns, and fabrics to ready-made garments. It touts its own cotton mills, printing and dyeing plants, wool-top processing factories, knit-wear and woven-garment manufacturing bases, located across China and overseas, as well as a domestic cotton plantation.
