Company Description
Usually a snake bite happens right before a trip to the hospital, not while you're there. But China Nuokang Bio-Pharmaceutical (dba Nuokang) has developed a drug containing an enzyme found in snake venom that's used to control bleeding after surgery. Called Baquting, the injectable drug is used in hospitals across China, where blood transfusions are not as readily available as they are in the US. Nuokang also distributes the adenosine drugs Aiduo and Aiwen in China, which are used to diagnose heart conditions during stress tests, as well as a dozen other medicines for asthma, infectious diseases, cold and flu, and anemia. Nuokang was founded in 1997. The company went public in the US in late 2009.
