Like a modern day cattle driver, Chesapeake Midstream Partners (CMP) rounds up and moves along natural gas through Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. Formed in 2009 as a joint venture between Chesapeake Energy and private equity firm Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), CMP offers natural gas gathering services, including channeling gas into processing plants, treating (removing unwanted substances), and transportation. It serves its parent Chesapeake Energy and other producers that operate in the Barnett Shale and the Arkoma, Anadarko, Delaware, and Permian basins.
