The real estate investment trust (REIT) owns and manages about 180 senior housing properties across Canada and the US. Properties include independent living communities, assisted-living residences, and long-term care facilities. Chartwell is the largest owner and operator of senior housing facilities in Canada and the third-largest overall in North America. The REIT also invests in mezzanine loans secured by senior living facilities.
